August 1935
August 1- Thursday. Awful hot and windy. Dust storm this eve. I washed today. Sewed on my quilt some. Kepleys brought Clarence home this eve.
August 2- Friday. Hot this morn. Sprinkled this afternoon and cooler. Dad and C. went to town. I got my pictures back today. Sewed on my quilt.
August 3- Saturday. Hot and windy. Hamons brought their cow over in morn. They all came over in eve and stayed awhile. I didn’t feel good all day.
August 4- Sunday. Not so hot but windy. We listened to the radio a lot this morn. C. Malone came and got his cow. We went to Granthams but they were gone.
August 5- Monday. Hot and windy. May Broiller was here to get signers for something. I sewed a little on my quilt. got a letter from Louise.
August 6- Tuesday. Got a dandy rain in afternoon about 1/2 in. I sewed on my quilt. Berl and Hankins was here also Elmer Hennigh and Buddie and hired man.
August 7- Wednesday. Hot. Dad and C. went to town. I got a letter from Delma. Finished my Flower Garden quilt. Uncle Grant and Aunt Ofie brought Uncle Charley down.
August 8- Thursday. Hot and windy. I washed this morning. Listened to radio a lot. Red Cregin, Elmer Hennigh, and Paul Payton were here.
August 9- Friday. Hot! Mom baked and we ironed. I sewed some on my Wedding Ring quilt. Paul P. was here. I got a letter from a new pen pal-Meryl McConaughy.
August 10- Saturday. Hot enough. The men went to town. We cleaned up the house and it looks pretty good. Ralph P. was here today.
August 11- Sunday. Hot. Had a dust storm tonite. We stayed home. Had a good dinner. I wrote a letter to Louise this afternoon.
August 12- Monday. Cooler today. Sewed some on a quilt. The men went to Big Bow. Some paper man was here. Also Mr. Close was here to look at the horses.
August 13- Tuesday. Nice day. I sewed some and wrote 2 letters. Paul Payton was here for dinner. Not much doing only the ordinary work.

August 14- Wednesday. Windy and sorta dusty today. I made some jelly and 2 pies. Had a good dinner. Sewed some on my quilt. Red Cregin was here.
August 15- Thursday. Hot and windy. Dad and Charley went to Lakin. Uncle C. gave us girls his Kodak. Clarence and Red C. went arrowhead hunting. We washed today.
August 16- Friday. Hot and windy. Dad came home from Lakin. Will Rogers and Wiley Past were killed last eve. I heard tributes to them over radio.
August 17- Saturday. Had a variety of weather today. Dust storms and showers of rains. Read some and layed around some and ironed. Too hot and windy to do much.
August 18- Sunday. Variety of weather, dusty, sprinkles etc. Didn’t do much only do up the work and got dinner. Wrote a letter to Dorothy. Was outdoors some in eve.
August 19- Monday. Hot and windy. I worked on my quilts today. Tore up my big Wedding Ring and worked on Grandmothers fan.
August 20- Tuesday. Cooler today. I sewed some, read some and slept some besides the regular work. Not much doing today.
August 21- Wednesday. Hot and stormy. Dad and C. went to town. I sewed on my quilts. Got a letter from Meryl McC. today. Dad and C. have gone to Grange tonite.
August 22- Thursday. Hot. We washed. Dad and Clarence went to Big Bow and got coal. My eyes hurt me all day. I got a letter from Mary Ruth today.
August 23- Friday. Hot. We ironed and baked and I made some grape jell. Layed around this afternoon. Mr. Welch called this eve.
August 24- Saturday. Hot and windy. I cleaned up the house some and wrote a letter this morning. Just lounged around this afternoon. Didn’t get any mail.
August 25- Sunday. nice day. Lennie and I took some pictures. Fred Kolb was here. Keith Hazell was buried today.


August 26- Monday. Nice day. Didn’t do much only ordinary work. Sent a letter to Meryl and one to Mary R. Got a letter from Louise. Ralph Kepley was here.
August 27- Tuesday. Nice day. Dad, C. and I went to town. I got 3 new dresses. Sure are pretty. Sent off my films. Got a letter from Vera.
August 28- Wednesday. Cool and cloudy most all day. I sewed on my new dresses and got them all fixed. Didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.
August 29- Thursday. Cool and cloudy most all day. I washed today. Also took a bath and washed my hair. Mr. Jones the baker man was here.
August 30- Friday. Cool and windy. I cleaned up the bedrooms this morning. Didn’t do anything this afternoon only sleep and read and ordinary work.

August 31- Saturday. Nice day. I cleaned up the house and baked a cake. Dad and C. went to Ulysses. Clarence went to Big Bow this afternoon. Claud and Carl were here.
